Meaningful learning

Psychopedagogy in Aracaju

Psychopedagogy explores how each person learns, the barriers they face and strategies that may make learning more accessible.

Learning involves more than subject matter

Learning is connected to attention, language, memory, movement, emotions, routines, the environment and previous experiences. For this reason, a learning difficulty should not be attributed to a single cause without an assessment.

What skills can be supported?

  • organizing materials, assignments and study routines;
  • strategies for reading, writing and reasoning;
  • attention, planning, memory and flexibility;
  • confidence to participate and persevere through challenges;
  • communication with the support network about possible strategies.

Goals should be observable and connected to everyday life. Support may also help identify when a referral for another assessment or specialty is needed.

Avoid jumping to labels. A careful assessment considers learning history, daily routines, interests and the situations in which challenges arise.

Working with the support network

Psychopedagogy can coordinate with psychology, speech-language therapy, occupational therapy and other disciplines to provide consistent guidance in different learning environments.
